Teen Parent Services
The ROE Teen Parent Services program helps pregnant teen and teen parents, male and female, remove barriers with the goal of completing their high school education or GED. In addition to encouragement and support of the teen while completing their education, the program also addresses, goal setting, positive relationships, family health for the teen and infant, parenting education, life skills, and referrals. Monthly face-to-face meetings between case managers and teen parents are held during the academic school year at local high schools and the GED center. Case managers work closely with high schools, GED classes, and state/ local agencies. Students who attend school, follow school rules, and are doing their academic best receive a package of diapers, wipes, and a children's book monthly.
The 2014/15 success rate of students completing high school, passing the GED, or remaining in school was 95%. During the 2016/17 school year 23 students were served in Calhoun, Greene, Jersey and Macoupin.
Teen Parent Services is always seeking donations of new packages of diapers and wipes, as well as new or gently used children's books. This incentive program is 100% funded by generous donations. Monetary donations are also welcomed and used to purchase the above items, and to help with various other emergency needs of the teens. Please call or e-mail for more information on how you can contribute.
